BIO

Joshua Cade

Perpetual project machine, anti-capitalist political philosopher, and author. I’m organizing systems based resistance to the cycles of theft and hoarding of labor’s earnings and representation.

Currently working on outlining capital’s role in reducing representation of We the People, forming a startup to reform representation, encouraging people to run for office, and organizing citizen lobbying in Austin, TX.

CONTESTED

Political Organizing | Web Design | GIS Mapping

A majority of politcal races are uncontested, this is detrimental to democracy.

Contested addresses the issue of uncontested races by presenting users with accessible and shareable information on viable races based on their zip code or address. Our democracy is stronger when our representatives are challenged, when they’re pushed on issues that matter to our communities, and when a broader pool of candidates participate in our government.

Use Case:
Jean Doe enters their zip code and Contested populates data on how many races near them were uncontested in the previous year, Jean easily shares this to her social media. She then scrolls through the races and has immediate access to:

- Office overviews including duties, comensation, and term length.
- Census data for district
- Estimaged campaign costs based on number of voters
- Incumbent overview and profile

Maybe Jean Doe is looking to help out their community and is qualified for one of the offices or maybe they know someone who would be a good fit. Either way, they’re now participating in our representational democracy and bringing the will of We the People closer to our legislation.
